Yellow Moss Rose Portulaca Seeds - Portulaca Grandiflora - Beautiful & Prolific

Quantity: 100+ Seeds

Moss Rose, aka Portulaca Grandiflora, is a beautiful plant in the purslane family, Portulaceae. They grow as perennials down to zone 10, but live as annuals everywhere else. This hardy succulent originates in South America but (due to its popularity) has been spread across the globe. Its popularity is understandable considering how little maintenance goes into them in order to produce such an abundance of blooms and foliage. Providing their needs are met, Portulaca grows just as well in pots as they do in the ground. The plants have shallow roots, so can be used as a 'filler plant' between crops without the risk of competing for nutrition. As a bonus, they're so hardy that they will live and bloom in a vase for a few weeks once picked.

All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

  • Growing Instructions

Portulaca seeds are best sown directly in the ground in early spring. The soil should be kept moist until germinated. Sow the seeds 1/8 inch below the soil surface, or even sow them on the surface. The seeds typically take between 2-4 weeks to sprout. The plants don’t require very much attention once established other than a weekly watering, and regular harvesting. These plants are quite vigorous come high summer. The plant is an annual, but will easily reseed itself each year. Purslane is resistant to deer, pests, drought, and flood; It’s a very robust plant.
