Heliotrope Seeds - Heliotropium Arborescensa - Beautiful & Pollinator Friendly
Quantity: 50 Seeds
Heliotrope, aka Heliotropium Arborescensa is a perennial member of the Borage family, Boraginaceae. It's native to Peru, and lives as an annual down to zone 9, but can be grown as an annual anywhere else. The plants grow to 3 feet tall, and bloom from late spring until autumn. The flowers are not only beautiful, but extremely aromatic too, so the flowers are often used to create an essential oil which is used in aromatherapy and perfume. The flowers are rich in nectar, so they'll attract a wide range of pollinators too. The plants are resistant to heat, insects, and deer, and they don't need much care other than a regular watering and some mulch.
All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

Growing Instructions
Heliotrope seeds may be started in pots in the spring, but prefer to be directly sown into the ground. If sown indoors, plant the seeds in a sterile growing medium; most available seed starting soils should do the job nicely; we use sunshine mix (peat moss and perlite). The soil should be made moist, but not damp. Sow the seeds 1/8 inch below the soil surface, or even on the surface. Store in a warm area until tiny sprouts emerge from the soil. Seeds should emerge in 1-4 weeks. Once germinated, and the first true leaf has formed, it's time to pot up to a larger container that contains a good quality potting soil. Transplant to their final location when the nighttime temperatures are consistently 12°C or higher.
