American Cranberry Seeds - Vaccinium Macrocarpon - Delicious & Perennial
Quantity: 20 Seeds
American Cranberry is a shrub in the Heather family, Ericaceae. This culinary classic is native to North America, and is hardy down to zone 2. It produces very delicious, tart, and nutritious fruits, which are most commonly used to make a sauce that pairs with many foods. The plants are easy to grow, and become heavier producers with each passing year. It's one of the few native americna fruits that are consumed on a large sacale, but can easily be grown at home. The plants can live over 60 years, and they don't require the best soil to grow. They prefer sandy loam and acidic soil, so are suitable for areas where many other plants won't thrive. Contrary to popular belief, Cranberries don't grow in water. On a comercial scale, the fields are flooded to make the harvest easier; however, when grown at home the easiest way to harvest the fruits is to just pick them by hand.
All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

Growing Instructions
For best results, start Cranberry seeds outdoors either directly or in pots about 1-2 weeks before the last frost. The soil should be kept moist, but not damp. Sow the seeds 1/8 inch below the soil surface. Once germinated, and the first true leaf has formed, it's time to pot up to a larger container that contains a good quality potting soil if planted in a pot. Transplant to their final location when the nighttime temperatures are consistently 8°C or higher.
